3 Tammuz: Transitioning to Uninterrupted Eternal Life

3 Tammuz is one of the most complex dates in Jewish history. Historically, it is a significant day: many centuries ago, Yehoshua bin Nun miraculously stopped the sun, and in 1927, Rebbe Rayatz was released from imprisonment against all odds. However, in our generation, this day has been “darkened” by the events of 1994. As a result, many Chassidim, even the most devoted, view this period without the Rebbe’s visible presence as a time of deep darkness. But is this really the case?

Why did I put the word “darkened” in quotation marks? Why do I not see this time as a spiritual decline? I believe the Rebbe intentionally provided Chassidim, who diligently studied his talks from 1991-92, with an incredible opportunity to explain to everyone the unique innovation of our generation — the transition to eternal life without any interruption.

Indeed, many were already prepared to acknowledge the Rebbe as Moshiach, as evidenced by the numerous signatures on the well-known rabbinic declarations. However, the real challenge lay in understanding the concept of eternal life. This concept does not refer to the soul’s eternal nature, which is widely accepted, but rather to the eternal life of both soul and body without any interruption!

The Rebbe consistently revealed this innovation through many of his talks, especially in his discussion on the parsha “Bo”, where he emphasized that the entire Jewish people would attain this during the transition from exile to redemption.

To explain such a unique idea, a precedent in our material world is required. I believe that this is why the Rebbe orchestrated “3 Tammuz”, so that the concept of eternal life without interruption would permeate not only theoretical discussions (Torah study) but also practical aspects of our daily lives — our thoughts, conversations, and actions. This idea is also well explained in Rabbi Shimon Weitzhandler’s Hebrew lectures.

Like any profound Torah insight, this concept demands deep and careful study. Therefore, I present to you over 40 articles on this subject, exploring various facets of 3 Tammuz. And, of course, I extend my congratulations to everyone on the forthcoming holiday marking the beginning of redemption!
