Loud statements are sounding again from Iran: the Defense Minister announced that during the 12-day war with Israel, “old missiles” were used, but now the arsenal includes new ones — “longer and scarier.”

Apparently, in honor of this “achievement,” the authorities declared Saturday and Sunday as days off — even though these are normally considered working days in the country. The reasoning is simple: there’s no water or electricity anyway, so why bother going to work and pretending to be productive? In terms of basic services, the country is sliding further into antiquity, and in some areas, the situation is even worse.

Meanwhile, President Masoud Pezeshkian unexpectedly allowed himself a heresy: he called for abandoning the race for a nuclear bomb and the endless war with Israel, and instead focusing on reforms and attempting to ease sanctions. As an extra “bonus,” he suggested curbing the influence of the IRGC over the economy. Observers have already dubbed this move “political suicide.”

Overall, it feels like events around the country are heading toward a “second part” — and it’s unlikely to be a comedy.
