The signs of the Redemption continue to appear across the globe, and their number is increasing. This week there was a series of earthquakes (thank G-d, generally without casualties), and several countries suffered major floods.
Hong Kong — the highest monthly rainfall in roughly 140 years was recorded! China — severe flooding in Gansu Province. India — severe flooding in two regions (Kashmir and Uttarakhand). USA — in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, about two weeks ago there was flooding described as a “once-in-a-thousand-years” event! Alaska has also been affected by flooding this month, and flood defences were erected there. More than 300 people died in northern Pakistan as a result of floods and landslides caused by the monsoon rains.
Let us once again recall the holy words of the Rebbe Rayatz, who prophetically stated that one of the signs of the Redemption would be floods.
Of course, the severe heatwave — in Israel, the Middle East, and Europe — is also one of the clearest signs of the Redemption. In Europe this wave has been driven by a so-called “heat dome”: temperatures have broken historical records both in Israel and in Europe, and a number of European countries (Greece, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Montenegro) have seen large-scale wildfires.
Powerful heatwaves have reached other regions as well: India and Pakistan have been suffering from these heatwaves for around four months, leading to hundreds of fatalities and unusual peak temperatures approaching 48 degrees! As is known, Israel also broke heat records this week. In the Emirates, historic heat records are likewise expected this week.
Norway, Sweden, and Finland — countries that usually have extremely cold weather — have faced unprecedented waves of extreme heat, with temperatures in Arctic (snowy) regions reaching an unparalleled 30 degrees!
The Sages of the Talmud reveal to us that one of the aims of the Redemption is that the Almighty will remove the sun from its sheath, after which it will become several times hotter. The sun’s incredible heat will bring goodness and mercy to the world. Therefore, the heatwave engulfing the world and the gradual global warming are likewise a good sign on the threshold of the Redemption and a great blessing that will come to us.
